English...It has always been one of my weakest subjects. However, it doesn't feel so bad this year, most likely because I haven't started doing essays yet 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜) (I'm actually scared for my life about this). Also, the first assignment I got was probably the best beginning-of-the-year assignment I've gotten. Six-word memoirs seem so easy to write because you only need to write so little, but they're much more complicated than that. You need to carefully choose the best words that will clearly send your message to the readers. In addition, we were free to write whatever we wanted to as long as it represented who we are. I had tons of ideas, and I was going to choose something that had a deep meaning like most people. After gathering feedback, though, I realized that it's sometimes better to make others laugh than think. We all need to give our brains a rest.
I used to read a lot, but as I started to receive more and more homework, I started to read less books. However, I do still read whenever I have the time. My tastes could be considered as old-fashioned, but I don't mind. Why? I love reading classical books such as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I also love books that have settings taking place in the past like The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Paris by Edward Rutherfurd. Most of the time, such books always have very intriguing and thought-provoking messages, which is why I love reading them. However, they're so difficult to find because most people love the cliched love stories. I don't want to keep reading a story about a girl with conflicted love feelings for two hot supernatural boys who is always like, "Oh no, who am I going to choose?!" and, "Oh my god, I found out that I have powers. H-how?...WHY?!?!?!?!??!" It's because of such mundane stories that I've become picky about my books. Well, I'm generally a picky person, but the level of my pickiness doubles when it comes to books. For me to get interested in a book, it must be completely interesting from the beginning to the end, and the storyline must have many unique aspects. Also, no more than 3 chapters should bore me. I will drop the book immediately if more than three chapters make me feel like dropping dead. I'm surprised I can find this many books that are to my liking:
